Position / Designation
Senior Economist, RAND Corporation

Sebastian Linnemayr is a Senior Economist at the RAND Corporation and Professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School (PRGS). His research focuses on the use of incentives based on insights from behavioural economics to improve chronic health behavior, for medication adherence among people living with HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. A recent strand of his research investigates how insights from behavioural economics can be combined with approaches from the psychology literature to support habit formation more effectively, with the goal of long-term behavior change.

He is currently leading and has led several NIH-funded grants to improve HIV prevention and treatment in Uganda and the US that employ novel approaches such as nudge-type incentives and mHealth tools. Dr. Linnemayr frequently presents his work at NIH and speaks to academic and policy institutions about his research.
