Mildmay Research Centre Uganda (MRCU) is a leading research institution dedicated to advancing health research and improving health outcomes in Uganda. We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Finance Officer (Grants Management, Finance and Administration) to join our dynamic team.
JOB TITLE: Finance Officer (Grants Management, Finance and Administration)
Job Summary:
The position holder will play a crucial role in the financial management of the research business at Mildmay Research Centre Uganda. This position will be responsible for grants management, financial accounting, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles and experience in managing research grants.
Position’s expected Key Result Areas:
• Identify and pursue potential funding sources.
• Develop compelling research proposals.
• Manage grant applications and reporting.
• Build relationships with funders and partners.
• Analyze grant application data.
Qualification & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum Professional Qualification level 3, CPA or ACCA.
• Minimum of three (3 years) of experience in financial management, preferably in a research or non-profit organization.
• Experience in grants management is preferred.
• Experience working with international funding agencies (e.g., NIH, EDCTP, Gates Foundation) is a strong advantage.
Job related experience and knowledge:
• Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.
• Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamic Navision, Excel).
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
